Humans have the tendency to say and do things they hope will generate an emotional response in others. We understand how effective this can be at getting others to do what we want. Using tears to hinder another from God's calling is a very unloving thing to do.
Paul the Apostle didn't allow this kind of manipulation keep him from the tasks the Lord had given him. [Acts 21:13] Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” Instead of being so quick to tell others what they should or should not be doing maybe we should instead (pray for them).
